Annegret "Ann" Betty Maerten (Harrs) born March 21, 1940 in Bremerhaven, German passed away September 14, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO. Due to complications from Dementia.

Ann will be deeply missed by her surviving family of husband, Charles "Chuck" Maerten, daughter Susanne (Timothy) Halcomb, granddaughter, Morgan Duhamel, and sister, Hanna Kino.

After marrying her husband in 1959, and joining him on his military career and giving birth to their daughter (1959), she became a naturalized citizen in 1964. Ann proudly became fluent in the English language where she was then able to earn her GED and go on to serve in the Civil Service. Having worked at several US Air Forces bases across the country, Ann received numerous awards, recognitions, and certificates of appreciation for her hard and diligent work. Ann especially loved her time working with the UV-18 aircraft. Ann was an active member of The Independent Order of the Foresters for 41 years, and served as an officer for 12 years.

Retiring in 2000, Ann found a way to encourage her husband's golf habit by working part time at a local golf course where she made countless friends. Ann also enjoyed the many cross country road trips her and Chuck would often take, visiting all but 1 state in the nation.

Ann was famous amongst friends and family for her cooking and crocheting skills, making every family member with a handmade blanket or favorite meal whenever they wished.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Broadmoor Court Assisted Living where they showed true compassion and care for Ann during her last 14 months.

Celebration of life to be held at a future date.
