Diana Ceciliani Obituary

Diana passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is now looking down on us smiling, and will be with us in our hearts and minds forever.

Diana was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio where she attended Walnut Ridge High School. She entered the Air Force in 1980 as a Security Police Specialist. During her first assignment at Tyndall AFB Florida, she met her husband Paul and has been happily married for the past 35 years traveling around the world on many adventures.

During her career, Diana was selected as one of the 12 Outstanding Airmen in the Air Force in 1990 and was not only one of the fastest to make Chief Master Sergeant in Security Forces in fourteen and a half years, but also among the first females to achieve that rank.

Diana retired in 2000 to spend more time with her family. In 2001, she moved to Colorado Springs and for the next 10 years served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Springs Veteran's Day Parade. Her heart and passion was to ensure all veterans were honored properly, and loved to see the veterans' smiles coming down Tejon Street each year.

Diana loved her family dearly and had two handsome sons, Nick and Josh. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to so many. Diana would light up a room with her beautiful smile and her kindness for others was contagious. She enjoyed traveling and nearly all outdoor activities.

Diana is survived by her husband Paul, sons Nick and Josh; mother, Joan Lindsey; sisters, Laura, Brenda and Barbara; and brothers Dave and Steve.

Diana was such a sweet, lovely lady. Her office was just down the hall from mine. She was always friendly and gracious. The world needs more people like her. Diana is dearly missed.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved wife and Mother. She was indeed a very special person to you and the United States Air force. She entered a "Male" Career field and open the door for other women. In a short period of her career, she made the highest rank and remained in the security field. Rest in peace Defender

Paul, Nick, and Josh, Your wife and mother left a legacy that had a lasting impact on so many. As a young Airman at RAF Bentwaters, she was a mentor and friend to me in a career field dominated by so many men, and inspired me to follow in her footsteps. It was her example that I also achieved the rank of Chief. I can only imagine the pain you feel in the loss of her and pray that God may comfort you in this very difficult time.

Paul and family, I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I remember when you two came to RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge in the eighties. I remember some the awards Diana won and she captured the attention of the brass. I also remember one night Diana was working the main gate at Bentwaters during alert time, she'd been on for 12 hrs and she still had that smile. It was an honor serving with you two.
