(Frederick) Keith Glick died on November 12, 2017, of natural causes. He was, of course, riding his bicycle. Keith was born on February 19, 1940, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Velma L. and Fred B. Glick. Following graduation from Pittsburg High School, where he and Linda (Scifers) were King and Queen of their Yearbook, he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering in 1962. He was in ROTC during college and the US army from 1963-1965. Keith and Linda married in 1963.
Keith worked at Draper Laboratory at MIT where he managed software development, receiving two patents and consulting for major industrial companies in the US and Europe. Keith worked with NASA's manned space program throughout the Apollo Project. Keith's work focused on the Computer Navigation Systems, and he was present at Cape Canaveral for the launch of Apollo 11, the first manned moon landing.
In 1983 Keith joined Digital Equipment Corporation as Manager of Manufacturing Technology. That same year, Keith, Linda, and their three sons moved to Colorado Springs, where he and Linda had honeymooned in 1963. Keith enjoyed biking, skiing, traveling, watching Manchester City games, spending time with his sons and grandchildren, and flying his plane. Some of his most notable adventures include cycling in China, Nepal, France and Italy, cycling the entire Pacific Coast Highway for his 70th birthday and, most recently, completing a 4,304 mile cross-country ride with his son John. Keith was always accompanied on his adventures by family and friends who cherished the time they got to spend with him.
Keith was active in civic and charitable work with Pikes Peak United Way and the Lutheran Family Services refugee program. He also spent many years donating his time and plane, flying for Angel Flight, transporting those in need of medical care.
Keith is survived by Linda, his wife of 54 years, his sons Thomas (Maria), John (Christa), and James (Tara) and his sister Karolyn Bertalotto. Keith and Linda's six grandchildren, Chuck, Ted, Maisy, Samantha, Katie and Eli, were the joy of his life. Keith will be greatly missed by many and remembered for his intellect, his ingenuity, and his kind and gentle way.
A memorial celebration will be held in Colorado Springs on January 20, 2018 at the National Museum of WWII Aviation. In lieu of flowers, please consider a legacy donation to the Kids on Bikes Lets Pedal Earn-a-Bike Program at kidsonbikes.net, or to worldbicyclerelief.org an international program distributing bikes to "empower people one wheel at a time".
