Carol Grover Obituary

BERNARDSTON - Carol L. Grover, 66, of Brattleboro Road, Bernardston, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.

She was born April 20, 1950, in Northampton, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Bombard) Onlilevich. In Carol's younger years, she lived in Florence.

Over the years, she worked at various places such as Mohawk Park, a local bowling alley, Phoenix Insurance Company and Franklin Nursing Home. In recent years, she worked in the produce department at Foster's Supermarket. In 2003 she married her partner-in-crime and the love of her life, Paul Grover.

Her passion was helping others - she loved and got much joy from putting on fundraisers for multiple awareness's and charities - the most recent, and one near and dear to her heart, was for a local young man with a life threatening illness. Another passion of hers was nature. She loved bird watching, (she recently learned enough about the computer so that she could watch the 24 hour EagleCam on the eagles.org website). She once loved going to Pittsfield to pick dried flowers and find caterpillars, but later in life her own backyard became her personal oasis which she updated frequently with flowers, ponds, gardens, etc. She and Paul shared their love of nature and recently spent some free time meeting with local 4-H members for meals and other occasions. Carol was sweet, caring, giving, spunky, and full of love for everyone. She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her husband Paul and children Steve Blair and his wife Jody of Pensecola, Florida, Melissa Hill and her husband Jerald of Bradenton, Florida, and Jeffrey Paul Grover and his wife Amy of Northfield. Scott Howard Grover of Gardner. She is also survived by her mother Dora; sister Gail LaMagdelaine; sister-in-law Patricia Shearer and her husband Thomas of Northfield; brother-in-law Phillip Grover and his wife Donna of Bernardston; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Curtis Blair.

There was a graveside service Monday in Center Cemetery, Bernardston.

Donations in her memory may be made to either the Bernardston Fire Department, 18 Church St., Bernardston, MA 01337, or the Veterans Club of Bernardston, 16 Hartwell St., Bernardston, MA 01337.

When you describe what the ideal Human Being should be, what that person should encompass, Carol was all that and more. I've never met anyone else who got so much enjoyment from life simply by helping others, not because she had to but because this was a characteristic that was naturally inherit to Carol. She touched so many lives and gave so much of herself, willingly and instinctively. She was absolutely beautiful inside and out. She will always be remembered and spoken of because she was a true Diamond to so many.

We are stunned and so saddened that we can't hear Carol's wonderful laugh and see her beautiful smile again. But we know that the love and caring she gave to everyone she knew and loved will remain forever, and her vibrant spirit will live on in our hearts and memories.
