EARL F. OWEN

Granby, MA — Earl Francis Owen, 70 of Granby, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 4, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with his family by his side.

Earl will also be remembered by his many cousins and dear friends.

Earl loved and cherished his Ayrshire cattle devoting his weekends on the road traveling to local fairs with his daughter creating memories shared for a lifetime. He was a longtime volunteer of 4-H and many local agricultural committees while always serving breed organizations throughout the country he admired his extended fair families. Serving as a high school softball umpire he spent much of his time during the summer at softball tournaments enjoying his time staying connected to the sports community. Earl's commitment and lifelong career with the University of Massachusetts Amherst started with roots in Agriculture at the campus farm. Earl planned his year around his annual Super Bowl trip to Las Vegas with his best friend Gordy Richardson. Earl's Cheshire Cat smile, bright sparkling blue eyes and contagious laugh brought so much happiness and so many amazing memories to all those that knew him or had the pleasure of spending time with him.

If there were softball games to be umpired, more often than not, Earl would be the first on the scene always greeting the rest of the crew with a great big smile. RIP, my friend.
