George Bean Jr.

1936 - 2013

NORTHAMPTON - George J. Bean Jr., 76, of Damon Road, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Linda Manor Extended Care in Leeds.
Born in Springfield Dec. 7, 1936, he was the son of the late George J. and Adalaide (Lamondia) Bean Sr.
He was educated in Springfield schools and later received his bachelor's degree from Western New England College. George worked at Monsanto in Ludlow for 13 years, later at National Gypsum, formerly Multicolor, in Hatfield for 22 years and at Adhesive Applications in Holyoke for 22 years, retiring in 2009.
He was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed gardening, was a bird enthusiast and enjoyed spending his summers in Beckett. George's first wife, Nancy (Monette) Bean passed away in 1970. He is survived by his wife Sharon (Lesko) Bean, his two sons Brian Bean and his wife Cheryl of Beckett, and Jeff Bean and his wife Debbie of Chester, his two daughters Sharon Driscoll and her husband David of Easthampton and Kristina Bean-Robichaud and her wife Charlette of Braintree, his three brothers Joe Bean of Seabring, Fla., Robert Bean of East Longmeadow and John Bean of Ludlow, his six grandchildren, Jason, Kyle, Sam, Elizabeth, Rachel and Violet and several nieces and nephews.
George's funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton. Burial will be private. Calling Hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9-10 a.m. Donations in George's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the American Cancer Society, 50 Bobala Rd., #2, Holyoke, MA 01040.
