KATHRYN GRACE HELEMS
Leeds, MA - Kathryn Grace (Heon) Helems, 80, passed away on October 29, 2025 at Baystate Hospital in Springfield after a long battle with heart disease.
Kathryn was born in Northampton on February 7, 1945 to Ernest and Grace (Kohler) Heon, and graduated from St. Michael's High School in Northampton. She went on to become a dental assistant for Modestow Family Dentistry, and later worked for both the Leeds and Haydenville Post offices. She married her late husband, John W. Together, they raised two children, John Jr. and Julie, as well as many beloved animals, a plentiful garden, and their two grandchildren, Marisah and Jakob.
She had a love for cooking, and had many family recipes passed down through generations. Her canned goods, particularly piccalilli, pickles and jams, were a highlight at the holidays as she would gift them to her family. She was an active parishioner of St. Catherine's of Alexandria, and with her late husband John, planted beautiful flowers which adorned the property until their closing in 2007. Kathryn was also a member of Our Lady Of The Hills parish in Haydenville.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John, and her siblings, Ernest and Virginia. She is survived by her son John Jr. of Leeds, her daughter Julie of Chester, her granddaughter Marisah, her grandson Jakob, his wife Anna and their son Cain, and her husband of 8 years, Ed Moczulewski. She is also survived by her siblings, Eleanor, Pete, Elaine, and Mary, and leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as her cat Mya that she loved very dearly.
