Mary Davis Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY - Mary Diana Davis, 54, of South Hadley, formally of Lansing, Michigan, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at home in South Hadley, with her loving husband by her side.

Diana was born March 28, 1962, in Lansing, Michigan, to J. Verne Davis Jr. and Joann (Puffer) Davis. Her father preceded her in death. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, earning her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in international relations, post graduate scholar of economics at Cambridge University, Cambridge England, and master's degree from American International College, Springfield.

She had a successful career in banking for 12 years, leaving as a vice president of Community Lending. She switched careers in 1997 to information technology, became certified as a network and systems administrator (Springfield Technical Community College), the last five years as a systems administrative and technology advisor for the Massachusetts Library System.

Diana spent much of her life studying languages and travelling. Most recently she finished three years in the Irish (Gaelic) language program at the Elms College, Chicopee. She also studied German, Danish, Italian, French and Spanish. She was an avid swimmer, golfer and tennis player. Genealogy was a passion and she did extensive research and travel with like-minded friends and family.

Diana is survived by her mother Joann Davis. She is survived by her best friend and love of her life, husband Terry Reardon, as well as two brothers and two sisters, Tres and Cherie Davis, Kelly and Carole Davis, Elizabeth and Joseph Pandy and Cynthia and Brad McDowell. She is also survived by her three beautiful step-sons, Keegan (Sarah) Reardon, Deven Reardon and Conor Reardon; sisters-in-law Kathy Reardon, Nancy Graton and Joan (Steve) Gazillo; and well-loved nephews and a niece, Jason and Joshua (Katie) Davis, Nathan and Madeline Davis and Joey and Jimmy Pandy.

Special thanks to friends Donna and Cathy who took such excellent end-of-life care of her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the South Hadley Public Library (where Diana and Terry were married) 27 Bardwell St., South Hadley, MA 01075 or your local Hospice/VNA.

There will be a life celebration service held Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Yarde Tavern, 3 Hadley St., South Hadley, MA 01075. The O'Brien Funeral Home, 17 Clark St., Easthampton, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
