SARAH COLLETTE WELCH

Northampton, MA - Sarah Collette Welch (Keys) passed away at Linda Manor on October 31st due to a cancer illness at 94 years old. She was born on August 25, 1931, to her parents, Denis and Sarah Keys in Northern Ireland. She comes from a big family of eight siblings, one of which still resides in Ireland along with a lot of nieces and nephews.

Sarah lived in Chicopee MA, before that she lived at the Gables in Northampton.

Sarah went to school until the ninth grade and worked in a shirt factory when she was in her 20's. She met her soulmate, John Welch, who was in the service. She decided to live the rest of her life with him, so she took a ship to Canada where they met up and moved to Northampton. They were married June 7 of 1958, and they had three children.

Sarah was an Irish Catholic who went to church every Sunday until she couldn't drive anymore.

She worked in factory jobs until retiring in 1995.

She loved to travel to Ireland every year to see her family. She loved to walk, garden, and rearrange her condo.

She is predeceased by her husband John in 2011, her daughter Patricia and son-in-law Mark Bradford who died in 1993.

She leaves behind her two children, Michael Welch and his partner Terri Boas of Westfield and her two sons Kris and Kory, her daughter Colleen LaRochelle of Chicopee, her two grandsons Nicholas LaRochelle and Patrick Sheets, both from Chicopee, a brother-in-law and his wife Tommy and Doris Welch, and her grand-puppies Meadow, Sammi, and Bella.

An In-House service will be held on Friday November 14 at 11:30am at the Czelusniak Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
