Theodore Hendrick Obituary
Northampton, MA - Theodore L. Hendrick of Southampton died peacefully on November 28, 2025. Ted was born in Southampton in 1923, son of Hazel Lyman (Vincent) and Orrell Hendrick, and attended local schools. At sixteen he moved to Pittsfield and apprenticed as a plumber. Upon enlistment during World War II, he was sent to sheet metal school and then to Assam, India where he served the "China Airlift" repairing aircraft.
After the war he returned to Southampton, married Maxine Frost in 1947, raised his family, and worked at his business, TL Hendrick, Plumbing & Heating, until retirement. He had a great interest in the history of Southampton and was instrumental in the establishment of the Historical Society. He and Maxine served as curators of the Clark Chapman House museum for many years. An active member of the Conservation Commission, he led the annual Mountain Day hikes, leading folks to out-of-the-way points of interest in town.
Ted was predeceased by his wife Maxine and son Darrell. He is survived by his daughter Paula Hendrick (Carol Harley), grandchildren Cori Davis (Greg) and Michelle Hendrick, daughter-in-law Lisa Sawyer, and the mother of his grandchildren, Marcia Hendrick.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 8 at Mitchell Funeral Home in Easthampton (snow date January 15).
Donations in Ted's name to Kestrel Land Trust will be welcome.
