Aug. 10, 1920 - Nov. 4, 2011
The only child of William and Edna Mittendorf, Claire was born in Saint Louis, Mo.
She married Bill Trampier on Nov. 29, 1947.
Claire dedicated her life to her husband and family. From strong German stock, she worked hard and was practical, undemanding and artistically talented. Her love of animals encompassed all species. She loved nature and cared deeply about the environment and what might become of future generations.
Claire dutifully provided healthful meals to her family. She studied nutrition and shared her knowledge with everyone. She enjoyed many activities, including camping, swimming, fishing and card and board games. One of her greatest loves was music, and she encouraged her family members in their appreciation of classical and other styles.
After the death of her husband, Claire spent her final year at JoAnna's Adult Foster Care in Corvallis. Though she experienced significant pain and suffering, Claire endured with stoic dignity.
Claire is survived by daughter Kathleen and her husband, Dave Schalk; son Craig and his wife, Rebecca Swiff; son David and his wife, Nina; brother-in-law, Charles (Ray) Trampier Jr.; niece Lynda Trampier; and niece Jayne and her husband, Darren Haycay.
