Alan Paul Obituary

Orange City, FL - Alan left life on March 25, 2025, preceded in death by "My Girl" Mary Alyce wife of 68 years in December of 2019. Survived by son, Mark Alan Paul; and daughter, Marcia Lynn Cooper; daughter-in-law, Lisa Paul; son-in-law, Robert Cooper; grandsons, Joel Alan Paul, Jacob Edward Paul; and great-granddaughters, Olive Elizabeth and Ivy Alyce.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, served in the occupation army of Japan prior to the official end of World War II, and in the reserve until recalled to active duty. Alan started his education with the G.I. Bill of Rights at Milton College in Wisconsin, and received a degree from the American University, Washington, D.C. He continued legal studies at the University of Maryland and Southern College. He was recruited by General Electric to be one of two systems analysts nation-wide to start up G.E. computer business in Phoenix, AZ. Upon retiring from G.E., the same day he joined his former manager as Vice President of Facilities Plus, Inc. He then retired again after a successful time in business. The next move was to Orlando, FL to start retirement. But they moved again to have the beach life on the Florida Barrier Island of Ponce Inlet, and then finally to a continuing care community in Orange City, Florida. While working and in retirement, he served the Lutheran Church at various locations as assisting minister, home communion server, Sunday school superintendent, council member and even gave sermons.

Born August 12, 1928, only child of Norman L. Paul and Rosetta Walther Paul in Janesville, WI, he was very proud to be the fifth direct male decedent of Lemmuel Paul, who fought in the American war of Independence. Alan loved watching sports, his favorite teams Chicago Cubs, The Tampa Bay Rays and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He loved the sun, the beach and cruising. And he also enjoyed getting videos of his great-granddaughters. As Alan said "That's an Exceptional Life"

My condolence on Alan's passing, I always liked him. I worked at GE in Rockville MD and remember him well, a mutual friend Jerry Way also of GE just passed on April 17th. I was trying to notify Alan when I found this. I'll pass the word to other GE folks. Their both in God's hands.

I worked with Alan at GEIS for several years. He was very kind and always spoke with fondness about his family. We all were very blessed to know him and he will be greatly missed.
