Delavan, WI - Arline L. Wolfer, age 97, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away Monday October 6th at Vintage on the Ponds. She was born at home on May 6, 1928, in the Harvey Apartments on State Street in Milwaukee. Arline was married to George Wolfer Jr. in 1946 and had six beautiful children.
During World War II Arline worked for Signal Battery as a wartime worker. Afterwards she worked at Gaylord Box Company and in 1946 for Lifetime Sales as a Credit Manager. In 1957, she became a representative for Avon where she excelled quickly and moved into a managerial position where 250 representatives reported to her and she traveled over 50,000 miles each year for her job. She was known as the hat lady because she had a hat for all occasions.
In 1976, Arline owned Global Treasures in Fancy Fair Mall, Lake Geneva where she sold gifts and trinkets. After closing her shop, she moved onto North American Productions where she was able to travel the United States - seeing every state except Vermont, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
Eventually she received her Real Estate License and worked for Mikrut Realty in Lake Como and successfully sold many houses in the area.
She was incredibly creative and loved painting, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, anything to do with crafting and really enjoyed dancing the jitterbug, skating and singing. She performed in Masterpiece Choral and was a member of Lakeland Players where she was able to perform many roles and sing & dance in many more choruses. During the last production she participated in, she had just turned 88 years old.
She was known to be a very strong and independent woman, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt & friend, and will be deeply missed.
Arline is survived by her children, George (Mary) Wolfer, Terry (David) Ketchpaw, Steven Wolfer and Laura (Jon) Crow; grandchildren, Brenda (Tom) Vento, Scott (Gretchen) Wolfer, Tony (Meghan) Ketchpaw, Alex Ketchpaw (Julie Leibold) and Amanda Ketchpaw (Ted Pales); nine great grandchildren ranging from 2 to 31 years old, (sister-in-law) Maxine Wilke, numerous nieces & nephews, and good friend Bill Prohaska.
Arline is preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher Waychoff and Jean Evans and stepfathers, Harvey Wilke and Bill Evans; children, Sally Ann and Roger; brothers, Darrell (Florence) Waychoff, David Wilke, and Gary Wilke and her partner, Chester Gable.
