Bradford Schoeberle Obituary
Fr. Bradford Charles Schoeberle Horseshoe Bay, TX - Rev. Bradford C. Schoeberle, C.S.P, age 69, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Horseshoe Bay, TX, where he was serving as pastor. He was a member of the Paulist community for 30 years and a priest for 25.
He simply made the world a better place wherever he served. He was a dedicated, inclusive and compassionate leader who welcomed every person into the church community. He had a kind and gentle soul that touched everyone he met. You were a better person having known Fr. Brad.
Fr. Brad was born June 14, 1956, in Janesville, the oldest of seven children of Henry Charles Schoeberle and Carol (Bahr) Schoeberle. He attended St. Mary's School and Janesville Parker High School and earned several degrees, including a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Edgewood College and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C. He was ordained a priest on May 27, 2000.
Fr. Brad's ministry took him to California, Michigan, Illinois and Texas. In Chicago his parish school earned the 2019 National Blue Ribbon School award. In Allendale, MI, he started a parish and lead the construction of the parish's church building. In Horseshoe Bay, he was ready to oversee a $4.5 million church expansion.
He enjoyed all types of music and choirs and fashioned himself a foodie who enjoyed a great meal, with good wine and dessert always. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and wherever he served, he stayed true to his Packers and Brewers. Fr. Brad enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors and was a seasoned pilgrim of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
Anyone who spent ten minutes with Fr. Brad knew he loved puns. This one's for you Fr. Brad: "What do you call a deacon, a priest, and a bishop asking for food at a restaurant? . . . holy orders!"
Fr. Brad was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Peter and Matthew Schoeberle. He is survived by his sisters, Pamela (Roy) Hinz, Jeanne Butcher, and Marisa Schoeberle; his brother, Gary (Alyse) Schoeberle; his nieces and nephews; his Paulist Brothers and all of his parishioners. A Funeral Mass was held in Horseshoe Bay on Oct. 31.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Nativity of Mary Church, 313 E. Wall Street in Janesville. Visitation at 12 p.m. Reception to follow mass.
