Donald Ormsbee Obituary

Janesville, WI - Donald G. Ormsbee, age 89, of Janesville, WI, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Don, born May 7, 1936, in Janesville, WI, to parents Glen I and Leone (Little) Ormsbee. He was the kindest soul - truly one of a kind - known for his selflessness, quiet strength, and deep compassion. A devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, he lived his life with integrity and heart.

He was a modest man, never seeking praise, yet a true hero to all who knew him. He served honorably in the United States Navy and carried the values of service, humility, and faith throughout his life.

He also was proudly employed for 43 years at General Motors in Janesville, where he retired. From his younger years, you would find him working side by side with his father in his Mobil gas station, developing his love for automobiles.

Animals - from the tiniest rodent to the four-legged strays who found their way to his doorstep - knew his gentleness. He fed them all, showing the same grace and kindness he gave to people.

Even as Alzheimer's slowly took parts of him from us, the core of who he was remained: a man of deep faith, quiet humor, and the sweetest nature. He was a true Christian, in word and deed.

He now reunites with his beloved wife, Margaret (Kistner) Ormsbee, who preceded him in death, now reunited, their love and bond remain unbroken.

He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Karla (Ormsbee) Hickey, and her husband, James Hickey; his stepson, Gary Ormsbee; his wife Nancy (Kraus) Ormsbee, his grandsons; Tyler Olson and Travis Olson; his granddaughter; Khloe (Kufrin) Watson and her husband, Chandler Watson; and his great-grandson, Brody Olson. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephew, along with extended family in New York and many others who were touched by his life.

A private memorial service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the research at The Alzheimer's Foundation. APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, Janesville is assisting the family. Online condolence may be made at www.apfelwolfe.com

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering kindness. We will miss him dearly, but we are comforted knowing that heaven gained one of its finest.
