Janesville, WI - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Russell Raymond, a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend. Surrounded by the love of his family, he left this world the way he lived in it - with quiet strength and an open heart.
James was a man of his word. He was steadfast, humble and kind down to his last days. He was the kind of man that everyone loved the moment they met him. He was a man whose handshake meant something, whose laughter filled a room and whose heart always had room for one more. His warmth and generosity left a mark on anyone lucky enough to know him.
He found peace and joy in the outdoors, often casting a line on a still morning or sitting patiently in the woods taking in the simple beauty of nature. Whether telling stories at the kitchen table or teaching a grandkid how to bait a hook, James lived for the moments that brought his family together.
More than anything, James loved being a grandpa and a great-grandpa. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He never missed a chance to cheer them on, brag about them or pull them close for one of his signature hugs. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he wasn't just "Grandpa" - he was safety, laughter, and unconditional love wrapped up in one person. God truly made the best when He made him.
He is survived by his three sons [Robert (Kaylee), Russell (Rebecca), and Ryan], seven grandchildren [Mackenzie, Alyssa, Sidney, Carter, Landen, Samantha, Alex] and four great-grandchildren [Sutton, Leyton, Rowan, Parker]. He is also survived by his sisters [Teri (Randy) and Barb]. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonny, and his parents Charles and Joan. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and so many dear friends.
Though his chair may now sit empty, his presence will forever fill the room. His laughter, his stories and his unwavering love will echo in our lives for generations to come.
"The love of a father, steady and true,
Guides like a star through skies of blue.
A grandpa's heart, gentle and wide,
Holds every memory safe inside.
Though his hands may rest, his love remains,
In every smile his family sustains."
James will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, honesty and family will never fade.
Per Jim's request, no services will be held. HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY assisted the family. Online condolences may be sent to
