Mary Howery

1941 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Mary Ann (Egenes) Howery, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 21, 1941. She graduated from Delavan Darien High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from Marquette University. On May 30, 1969, she married her loving husband Franklin George Howery, lived in South Bend, Indiana and later moved to Janesville where they were married for 56 years. Mary taught first and second grades for the Beloit School District for over 30 years. After retirement, she devoted her time and effort to shopping the store bargains year-round to donate warm coats and school supplies. She wanted to help every child be prepared to learn. Mary also enjoyed reading, boat rides, line dancing, going to band concerts in the park, attending plays and musicals at the high schools and water ski shows in the summer. Of course she was always lining up her busy social calendar!

Mary is survived by her husband, Frank Howery of Janesville; their three children: James Robert Howery (Susan), Charles Franklin Howery (Paige), and Jean Howery Reister (John); siblings: Rolfe (Karen), Ronald (Kathy), Carol and Thomas (Linda); several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She also had wonderful friendships that lasted for multiple decades. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Rolfe and Mary Elizabeth Egenes; her twin brother, Richard; and brother Robert.
