Michael D. Valentine

1962 - 2023

Janesville, WI - Michael 'Mike' D. Valentine, 61, passed away early Sunday morning, December 17, 2023, at MercyHealth Hospital and Trauma Center. He was born April 11, 1962, in Kankakee, IL to the late Richard and Phyllis (Dunne) Valentine. He was a 1981 graduate of Lake Forest High School. Mike went on to graduate from the University of Iowa.

While in Iowa City, Mike met his future wife. On July 23, 1988, Mike married Elizabeth 'Liz' Tish in Marshalltown, IA. In 1991, their son Michael joined the family.

Mike enjoyed golfing and spending time on the water, with frequent fishing trips "up North" to the Gordon, WI area. Spending time on the water in the pontoon was his idea of a perfect day. Mike also loved to support his son in all the sports he played growing up, including occasional coaching and some catch up time when Mike was working the penalty box and Michael would stop by for a visit.

Mike is survived by his wife Liz Valentine; son Michael (Alycia) Valentine; three brothers: Christopher (Jeanine) Valentine, Gregory Valentine, and Mark (Marjorie) Valentine; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life for Mike will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 21 S. Austin Rd, Janesville.
