Milton, WI - Patricia Marion Mosher (Purcell), age 96, of
Janesville, WI passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025 at Huntington Place Memory Care in
Janesville, Wisconsin, of natural causes after a lengthy journey with advancing dementia. Born on June 30, 1929, to Patrick and Marion Purcell (Comstock), Pat spent her earliest years in a lovely stone farmhouse outside Verona, Wisconsin-now known as Quivey's Grove. The family relocated first to Flint, MI and then to
Janesville, WI after her father began work in the skilled trades at General Motors.
Pat graduated from Edgewood High School in Madison, WI. and from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She taught kindergarten at Powers Elementary School in Beloit for 26 years, retiring in 1990. While in college, she met the love of her life, Robert Mosher, and the two were married on June 30, 1951. Between 1952 and 1957, they welcomed five children, who remained at the heart of Pat's world.
While raising their children, Pat and Bob explored many creative endeavors together. Pat could often be found in the backyard with her paints and canvases, working on creating her latest landscape or tree, or shaping a clay sculpture inspired by her children. After she retired from teaching, Pat fully embraced her lifelong love of art with renewed focus. A gifted and versatile artist, Pat created beautiful still lifes, landscapes, portraits, and especially trees. She worked masterfully with watercolors and acrylics and explored pottery, sculpture, woodcut prints, and textiles. She also sewed, knitted, crocheted. Her artwork earned numerous awards and accolades. Four of her paintings are included in the permanent collection of the Pyle Center at UW-Madison. Many enjoyed receiving complementary painting lessons or drawing lessons from her. Many have adorned their homes with her beautiful works of art. Pat also had a deep love of music. Skilled on the keyboard, she played for her kindergarten students and for Sunday Mass. She loved to sing, and sometimes to others' amusement or gentle chagrin-Pat would often burst into song whenever something reminded her of a tune. Her Catholic faith was an integral part of her life. She was active in many community and church groups and built lasting friendships and touched many lives with her warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit. Pat returned as a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Janesville in 2017, where she and Bob had been married in 1951.
Pat is survived by her five children, Jim (Sandy) Mosher of
Milton, WI, Julie (Allan) Jacobson of Montello, WI, Steve (Sally) Mosher of Beloit, WI, Tonee (Michael) Mosher of
Janesville, WI and Jennifer (Greg) Turco of
Janesville, WI.
She was a proud grandmother to Steve Jr, Michelle, Bill, Brenda, Joshua, Chris, Robert, Katie, Rachel, Ted, Michelle, Nicole, and LeAnn, a great-grandmother to 20; and a great-great-grandmother to one.
She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Toni Purcell, and special cousin Mary Kay McCormack Vasquez.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob, her brother John Parker Purcell, and nephew Gene Purcell.
Pat's life was rich with creativity, faith, and family. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
