Rex R. Markee

1970 - 2026

Janesville, WI - Rex R. Markee, age 55, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, Mar. 4, 2026, at UW Health University Hospital, Madison. He was born Oct. 14, 1970, in Janesville, WI, a son of the late William F. and Teresa A. (Rynes) Markee. Rex worked for Lab Safety/Grainger, was a firefighter and EMT, and was currently working as a supervisor at Sub Zero.

Rex was very family oriented, he was a loving father and grandfather. He was hard-working and kind hearted. He loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved his Packers.

He coached Parkview High School wrestling for many years and in 1997 he started the Orfordville Youth Wrestling Program with fellow Coach Schullo. He was a dedicated coach who loved seeing his athletes succeed. His love for mentorship extended into his career.

Rex is survived by his 3 children: Cullin (Maria) Markee, Taytum (Natalie) Markee, and Brady (Martina) Markee; grandchildren: Camille and Emmett; significant other Vicky Reents; siblings: Denise Markee, Lisa Oberbruner, Judy (Ed) Elsner, Steven (Becky) Markee, Kathy (Jeff) Crane, Colleen Markee, Marcie (Dave) Flodeen, Christa Markee, Heidi (Warren) Janisch, and Mat (Billy Jean) Markee; brother-in-law: Rob Ladik; numerous loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Markee; sister Dawn Ladik; nieces Caranne A. Oberbruner and Maria R. Janisch, and companion Rudy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Mar. 12, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, Janesville. Burial will be in the Billings Creek Cemetery, Ontario, WI privately on Friday, Mar. 13, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorials to Orfordville Youth Wrestling.
