Richard Creek Obituary

Janesville, WI - Richard "Dick" G. Creek, age 86, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Cedar Crest in Janesville. Dick was born on March 11, 1938 in Janesville; the son of Walter and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Creek. He was a 1957 graduate of Janesville High School. Dick served in the Army and then Air Force Reserves after high school. He worked at General Motors Corporation for nearly 33 years, starting as an assembly line worker, then a millwright and eventually a supervisor. Dick married Jean (Roherty) Creek on August 27, 1960 at the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Janesville. Dick was a loving and generous man who passed along a strong work ethic to his family. Although he never went to college himself, he was proud of the 17 college and advanced degrees earned by his four children and seven grandchildren. Dick was the family cook, gardener, forager, and the G.O.A.T fisherman with over 300 muskellunge tallied in his records. Dick's family lovingly remember him as an outstanding father and even better grandpa who led us on many adventures on the road and on the water.

Dick was curious and competent and enjoyed numerous hobbies including gardening, foraging for asparagus & morels, hunting, boating, fishing, building fishing rods, and golfing. He enjoyed taking people out fishing for their first or fortieth time. Over the years, in addition to Janesville, Dick and Jean had a place "Up North" on Bone Lake and later Petenwell; and they enjoyed 20 years of winters at their home in Lake Bess Golf Club, Winter Haven, FL. Together, they traveled across the U.S. including to Hawaii and Alaska. Dick was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, UW Badgers, and of course of the sports and activities of all of his grandchildren. Some of our fondest memories are of family dinners, especially Dick's famous fish frys.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of almost 64 years, Jean Creek; his children: Dan (Patty) Creek, Jenny Sant'Anna, Cari (Pat) Campbell and Sam (Birgit Brunar) Creek; his grandchildren: Brittany (Izzy) Gonzalez, Emily Creek (partner, Jim Hans), Gaby (partner, Michael Rogerson) Sant'Anna, Lucas Sant'Anna, Tyler (partner, Katie Redfearn) Campbell, Bre (Joey) McMahon and Jacob (fiancée, Madison Schultz) Campbell; great grandson, Ricky Gonzalez; siblings: Ken (Patti) Creek, Tom Creek, Candy (Lynn) Chrisinger and Jim Creek; brother in-law, Gerry Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Creek; siblings, Connie Thomas and Susie Creek; nephew, Ricky Creek; and sisters-in-law, Alane (Keegan) Creek and Gail (Harvey) Creek.

The family extends special thanks to Cedar Crest, especially to Dick's CNAs, and Agrace Hospice.
