Richard L. "Rich" Jeannette

1966 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Richard "Rich" L. Jeannette, age 59, of Janesville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025. He was born in Janesville, the son of the late Lawrence and Florence Jeannette. He graduated from Parker High School in 1984. Rich went on to UW-Whitewater where he received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He proudly worked as a Correctional Officer at the Rock County Sheriff's Department for 20 years before retiring in 2020. He was correctional officer of the year in 2018. He was a lifelong member of St. William Church, where he ushered and volunteered.

He enjoyed a lifetime of active sports. He was an avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Rich was also an avid fan of nieces and nephews during their sporting events, from T-ball to college games. He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends. Rich cherished his roles as son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend.

He is survived by his siblings: Edward Jeannette of Edgerton (friend Paula Albers), Lucy (Steve) Karlen of Janesville, Nancy (Gregory) Linder of Janesville, and Susan (Steven) Johnson of Sister Bay; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, Oct. 3 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of mass at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. Memorials in Rich's name can be made to the charity of your choice. Although Rich was sick for many years, he chose to stay positive and said "I'm living with an illness," emphasizing living. Rich's family would like to extend a special thank you to his care teams at Mercy and UW Hospitals, and Mercy Hospice. Rich wanted to thank his many friends and family who supported and loved him through the years, as he also loved them.
