Rose Fahey Obituary

Janesville, WI - Rose (Powers) Cerny Fahey, age 93, of Janesville, entered into the presence of our Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mauston, Wisconsin on December 27, 1932. Rose grew up in an Irish Catholic family, the fourth among Elizabeth (Hough) and William Powers' five children. She later moved to Monona and graduated from Madison West High School.

In 1950 Rose married Hank Cerny. Together they raised 7 children. She worked at Leider Greenhouse and Corporate Woodman's after her children were grown.

After Hank's death, she reconnected with an old friend from Madison. In 2000, Rose married the second love of her life, Bill Fahey.

Faith and family defined Rose. Her family was her greatest joy. The Janesville house was known to overflow with laughter, love and chaos when all the family would gather. Her quick Irish wit and humor brightened the lives of all who knew and loved her. Her relationship with Jesus and Mary sustained her every day of her life.

Rose is survived by her children: Debbie Simpson (Alan Paulson) of Green Bay; Dennis (Felicia) Cerny of Germanton, NC; Suzi (Steve, deceased) Westby of Atlanta; Diane (Jules) Segal of Scottsdale, AZ; Joanne (Bob) Kennedy of Janesville; Kathy (Dave) Leeder of Winchester, WI; Tim Cerny (Wendy Ottosen) of Lake Tomahawk, WI. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, her brother William (Janet) Powers of Granite Bay, CA, and 14 nephews and nieces.

She is also survived by her Bill's six children: Dr. Mark (Karen) Fahey of Santa Rosa, CA; Kathryn Fahey of Madison; David (Deborah) Fahey of Louisville, CO; Michael (Petra) Fahey of Bullhead City, AZ; Ann Fahey of Madison; Eileen (Mark) Shebesta of Madison; along with his 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

She was proceeded in death by her husbands, parents, brothers Michael and Frank, and sister: Marie.

Her legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

A special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at SSM Hospital and Hospice and the wonderful caregivers at Cedar Crest.

Special mention to Rose's wonderful surgeon, Dr. O'Halleran, and her new Cedar Crest family that we all came to love.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday January 15, 2026, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Parish in Janesville, WI, with a visitation at 9:30 am until the time of mass. Burial service immediately following at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
