Dorothy Ann (Stebens) Komlofske April 23, 1929 August 24, 2022 Garden City KS Dorothy Ann Stebens Komlofske, a lifelong resident of Garden City, KS took her heavenly flight August 24, 2022. She was born April 23, 1929 the eighth of twelve childrenof William & Gertrude (Doerfler) Stebens in Morland, KS. She graduated from Garden City High school where she was known amongst her friends as "Dottie". After graduating, she met a "good German boy" Alvin J. Komlofske from Holcomb, KS. They married January 30, 1950 and welcomed eight children together taking up residency in Garden City. Being raised Roman Catholic, Dorothy remained a devoted lifelong member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. She was active with the Daughters of Isabella, serving as President. Dorothy gave back to her community frequently volunteering at St. Catherine's Hospital, participating in the Bells of St. Catherine's and delivering Meals on Wheels. Dorothy was also an avid bowler winning several awards in leagues & tournaments. Dorothy loved being ahomemaker and bookkeeper for Komlofske Motor Co. She spent countless hours as a room mother for each of her children, was a taxi for piano & swimming lessons and was active in the 4-H with her children. Growing up in a large German family, she loved cooking (especially German foods), baking and entertaining. She looked forward to hosting family gatherings, dinner parties and playing cards with friends. Her & Alvin traveled many places together including internationally with the Knights of Columbus and Ford Motor Company. Some of her fondest memories include the grandkids coming for the summers, teaching them how to make "love" cookies and taking them to town to go "snooping". She was very proud of her grandchildren taking every opportunity to show them off at the coffee shop and local boutiques. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alvin J. Komlofske (2002), infant daughter, Little Dorothy (1959), parents William & Gertrude Stebens, brothers Harold, Jim, Eddie and Willard, sisters Lena Irsik, Millie Irsik , Gertrude McCullough, Mary Brocker , Lola Stoppel and Jane Dehart. She is survived by children Marilyn (John) Herrman of Wichita, KS, Donna Komlofske of Brighton, CO, Rodney (Pam) of Fayetteville, NC, Joseph (Linda) of Salina, KS, Patrick of Overland Park, KS, Michael (Pam) of Garden City, KS and James of Bailey, CO; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister Joan Washam of Puyallup, WA and many nieces & nephews. Memorial services will be held October 1, 2022 at 10:30 at St. Dominic's Church. Rosary will be conducted by the Daughters of Isabella at 7:30 Friday evening, September 30, 2022.
