GARY BATCHELDER Obituary

GARY BATCHELDER Gary Lee Batchelder, 85, died Friday, July 5, 2024, at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on October 26, 1938, in Garden City, Kansas the son of Henry and Pearl Collins Batchelder. He married Patricia Castle-McWhirter on May 17, 1973, in Raton, New Mexico. Gary was owner of Batchelder Drywall. He was a member of a popular band The Continental's, during the late 60's, 70's and 80's playing rhythm guitar and singing. He made several records and wrote several songs. His most popular song was "Blue Jeans" Gary enjoyed watching western tv shows, supporting the Chiefs and Broncos and had great affection for his animals especially his cat Burt. Survivors include his Wife-Patricia Batchelder of Holcomb, Ks, Son-Terry Batchelder of Garden City, Ks, Step-Daughters-Marlece O'Brien of Dighton, Ks, Regina McWhirter of Dighton, Ks, Sisters-Shirley Johnson of Denver, Co, Duane & Nancy Truax of Scott City, Ks. Many Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren. He is Preceded in death by his Parents-Henry & Pearl Batchelder, Children-Rhonda Newsome, Gary Anthony (Tony) Batchelder and Steven Batchelder. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Family suggests memorials be made to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
