Ernie Lopez Obituary
Ernie became a born-again Christian at the age of 26. He taught youth boys at a Pentecostal church for 12 years and continued to teach third and fourth graders at South Valley Community Church. His passion was investing in our youth to develop a Godly generation. He was an avid reader and read his Word daily.
Ernie was blessed to employ his entire family, and on any given day you'd see him joy riding around town with his grandchildren. Ernie "retired" at the age of 65 but would continue to show up at the shop by 7am, ready to get the day started.
It brings us comfort knowing that he is with our Lord. Dad/Sweets, as King David said, "We cannot bring you back but we shall go to you one day" 2 Samuel 11:23.
You've crossed those pearly gates and are walking on those streets of gold.
Services will be taken care of by Habing Family Funeral Home.

We were blessed to have known Ernie. He had done a few jobs for us over the years and he was always on time and the work was done right. Linda really got to know Ernie when she had his Grandson Levi in her pre-school class. Ernie often dropped Levi off at school in the mornings and when he came in, he was always quick with a smile and a compliment for all. Ernie’s smile was infectious, and he never had a bad thing to say, he was always a ray of positive energy. No one was ever a stranger around him, you could hear his kindness and compassion for others when he spoke. He was always a pleasure to be around, Gilroy will be a lonelier place without him.
We raise our glass to you Ernie Lopez Sr. and bestow this Irish blessing upon you.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I thank God for Ernie. He always had a smile and a good word. He was my son’s Sunday school teacher and his faithfulness in serving the Lord helped my son to give his life to Jesus! We would see him at Scotty’s once in a while and he always stopped by our table to greet us in the Lord. He will be missed!

Ernie was very special - I loved how he would make reference to his wife as his "girlfriend". Ernie and Rosie were so supportive to me when I lost my husband Al nine months ago and I will always remember their kindness. I will miss seeing Ernie's huge smile especially when I would see him after a worship service at SVCC. My deepest sympathy to the entire Lopez family.

Don and I are so saddened by Ernie's untimely passing. He had just stopped here for a visit. He was so proud of his family, their hard work to attain success, AND what joy he got from his relationship with Christ. He was at peace. Please know I am holding your family close to my heart. Ernie rented my father's warehouse for over 25 years and my father always spoke very highly of him and how lucky he was to have such a wonderful tenant. I never met Ernie but I did talk with him a few times. He was kind and such a gentleman. May your memories sustain you as you grieve this loss.
