Gerald Mason Obituary

Resident of San Martin, CA.

Following a short illness, Jerry Mason passed away peacefully at home, Friday May 30, 2025. He was born July 31, 1942, in San Jose, California to Marvin and Catherine Mason. He was the oldest of six children: Beverly, Tom, Steve, Gordon and Julie.
Jerry was loved, admired and respected by family and friends for having been a great listener, hardworking, intelligent, honest and loving. He lived his life with a deep passion for the truth, the outdoors, his family and his faith. Jerry loved to surround himself with the funniest and most adventurous people.

Jerry served in the US Navy from 1960 through 1966 as a sonar technician on the Sea Devil in San Diego, CA. Soon after enlisting in the Navy Jerry married Jackie Ramey in 1961. They made their first home in Long Beach, CA. and returned to San Jose, CA after his discharge. They had a daughter, Loree, and a son, Mark. In 1971 they moved to Gilroy, CA and in 1986 moved to San Martin, CA. He worked for IBM as a manager for over 30 years. He was a loving and caring husband and lived his life as an example to his family. He and Jackie had a happy and beautiful marriage. During the last 6 years of his 60-year marriage, Jerry spent that time caring for Jackie while she was ill. It was a testament to who he was. He was a man of deeds not words. He was an amazing father who shared his love for the outdoors and great love of animals. He was a highly skilled hunter, fisherman, avid bicyclist, craftsman, photographer and horseman. Jerry always had a dog, but Dually his current dog was his constant companion.

Family and friends were Jerry's priority; he spent most days talking to or with someone in his family. His friends were life long and very important to him. Jerry was a big Warriors fan who loved watching the games at Mark's home with Heather, Dana, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved going on long walks on the beach with the Renz family.?

Jerry, Dad, Papa, Great Papa, you will be so deeply missed.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Loree Renz (George); his son Mark Mason (Heather); his grandchildren: Jessica Mason McFarren (Ian), Matthew Mason (Amanda), Justin Mason (Morgan), Micara Renz Keir (Ken), Christian Renz (Joanna), Dominic Renz (Tailor), Thomas Renz (Anne Marie), Julian Renz; and his great grandchildren: Colton, Peyton, John, Cullen, Shane, Jacob, Grace, Mia and Rory.

Jerry was a good friend whom I have know for over 40 years. He was the type of man who would help a friend no matter the problem or time of day. We spent lot of time camping, hunting and fishing while trying to solve the problems of the world around the campfire and sharing a stiff drink! He was upbeat all his life, right to the end and I really respect him for that, and for being a friend. My sincere condolences to the family and thank you, for all you did for Jerry.
