Jacquelyn Keaveney Obituary

Jacquelyn Keaveney passed away on December 2, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born in San Jose, CA. When Jacquelyn was three years old, her family moved to Gilroy after her father found work at the height of the Great Depression running a soda fountain and luncheonette called the Modern Creamery on Monterey St. After the Depression, her family made Gilroy their permanent home, and her father became a successful farmer and businessman.
Jacquelyn was a graduate of Gilroy High School. She subsequently attended and graduated from San Jose State University, majoring in Elementary Education. She was a first grade teacher in Pittsburg, CA for several years before marrying Edward Keaveney, her husband of 40 years.
Jacquelyn and Edward moved to Gilroy in the early years of their marriage and raised their children. They lived in the same home that they loved for the rest of their lives.
Jacquelyn loved her home, her family, her neighborhood, and her community. She never wanted to live anywhere else.
Jacquelyn is predeceased in death by her parents, Harry and Rose Semas, and her husband, Edward Keaveney. She is survived by her daughters Martha Keaveney and Maureen Keaveney.
Her funeral was held on Tuesday, December 14 at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy, CA. A private burial followed.

Jacquelyn was a very kind and caring woman. Being her neighbor on 5th street for 20 years (2 doors down) she was so wonderful to us and our two boys. She gave us a video camera in 1992 so we could record our kids. Such a special woman she was! She will always be in my thoughts.
