Marcella Tichenor Obituary
Marcella enrolled at Northwest Christian college to study music. She met her future husband Jerry singing as a member of the NCC quartet. They were married on December 19,1950. Together they served in churches in Salt Lake City, Union City-Indiana, Gilroy and Watsonville , California, and Rockaway Beach, Oregon. Marcella and Jerry lived and taught music and elementary school classes in Gilroy for 20+ years (1962-1983).They moved back to Oregon where Marcella taught school for 9 more years in Portland. Retiring in 1992 Marcella and Jerry moved to Rockaway Beach, Oregon where Marcella became the Director of Christian Education and Organist at Rockaway Community Church for 20+ years. Marcella is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jerry, her sister Sally Hill, and her 4 children, Sheryl Tichenor ,Mark (Patty) Tichenor, Laurie Jo (Tony) Porter, and Karen (Mark) Kershner.Marcella has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Cora May Irwin. A service was held on November 14th Oregon.
