Bruce Lohmiller Obituary

Bruce Edward Lohmiller Bruce Edward Lohmiller, a military caseworker, artist, musician, and advocate, passed away on October 9, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, and unwavering support for his passions.

Bruce was born on February 8, 1954, and he dedicated three years of his life to serving as a military caseworker, specializing in drug and alcohol rehabilitation from 1973 to 1976. His commitment to helping others was evident early in his life.

Following an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1979, he pursued higher education at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO, where he studied psychology and sociology as an undergraduate, reflecting his deep interest in understanding and supporting the human experience.

Bruce had a unique passion for the paranormal and sought a career in paranormal consultation. His curiosity and willingness to explore the unexplained aspects of our world made him a fascinating individual to know.

As an accomplished artist, Bruce utilized the Veterans Art Center both as a production facility and a gallery for his creative expressions. His artwork was a reflection of his respect for nature and his music captured political philosophy and mystery through his unique perspective.

Bruce was not only a sculptor but also a singer-songwriter. He was always eager to share his melodies at any event, no matter how small. His performances were a testament to his deep love for music and his desire to connect with others through the universal language of song.

One of Bruce's most enduring qualities was his unwavering commitment to organizations and causes he held close to his heart. He relentlessly pursued what was important to him, spoke up for causes he believed in, and constantly sought creative ways to secure funding for his cherished organizations, demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact in the world.

When his advocacy efforts or complaints and questions were countered with a suggestion that he do it himself and get his name on the ballot, he grabbed the suggestion and ran with it. Bruce has been a candidate in several elections for varied positions including Sheriff, Governor and President.

Bruce will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Military Honors will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, 3:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, GJ, CO 81501.

Memorial Contributions in Bruce's honor can be made to The Veterans Art Center, 307 S 12th St, Grand Junction CO 81501.

Bruce, you are greatly missed at the Veterans Art Center. You were one of the first veterans to come through our doors in 2013 when we opened and in hindsight I am not sure there were very many days you did not walk though our doors over the years. I miss the 'to do too doo too doo' as you came in to hastily update us on your current projects, or to sit down with the guitar to play for anyone who might come in.
