Christopher J. Gallegos

September 28, 1965 - September 20, 2021

Christopher J. Gallegos, born September 28, 1965, in Pueblo, CO, left to be with Christ, September 20, 2021, in Scottsdale, AZ.

Chris spent his childhood and early adolescent life growing up in Loma, CO. He eventually moved to Arizona, where he pursued his college education and eventually resided in Scottsdale, AZ.

Chris graduated from Fruita Monument High School, in Fruita, CO, attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction, and graduated from ASU, in Tempe, AZ.

He taught physical education and was a coach at both Shepherd Junior High in Tempe, and Mountain View High School in Mesa, AZ, where he led their team to two state wrestling titles.

He then pursued a career in the medical field where he was self employed as CG Surgical, representing Footsteps and Titan Medical.

Chris was a hard and dedicated worker. He worked hard and played harder. He loved dirt biking, camping, fishing, golfing, college football and spending quality time with family and friends.

He had a career that allowed him to take long periods of time off or take his work with him, to do the things he loved so much.

Beyond traveling to destinations like Mexico, California, Nebraska, to name just a few, his home was Colorado and he spent a good amount of time traveling back home to be with family and friends. He enjoyed the beautiful country and doing all the things he loved to do.

Besides golf and football, which were two of his favorite pastimes, Chris loved a good ole' party in the backyard or in someone's home (if it was cold). There was nothing better to him than gathering with friends and family, laughing, drinking, good food and enjoying each other's company.

If it was possible you could expect a bonfire to be lit and the fire going all night with a drink and a good cigar!

If you knew Chris in any aspect, you knew he was a HUGE Huskers fan, and college football was a passion. There wasn't anything about college ball you could run by him that he didn't know or educate you on. He tried to make it to Nebraska when he could to be at the games. Game time at Chris's house came with multiple televisions placed all over his living room so he never missed anything.

Chris was very passionate and driven, When he was a coach he instilled courage, dedication and persistence into his teams. Many stories have been told about how his encouragement and dedication made a positive impact and will forever be remembered for this. He was an inspiration and was held to a high level of respect from those he coached.

He created lasting relationships with so many people throughout the years and made everyone feel special and loved. Everyone was his buddy, his best friend, and someone we looked up to. If Chris cared about you, he was all in and would do anything for you. He was always there to lend a helping hand, give advice, cheer you on or just be your support system. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Juan "Tony" A. Gallegos; mother, Rose C. Gallegos; grandfather, Rumaldo Marquez; grandmother, Elenora Marquez; grandfather, Diego Gallegos, and grandmother, Ignacita Gallegos.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Kay Thomas (Steve); nephews, Brandon Gallegos, and Matthew Gallegos (Kourtney); niece, Kari (Kevin) Fulk; great-nephews and niece, Elijah and Isaac Gallegos and Amelia, Ben and Colton Fulk; extended mother, Tina Manzanares; extended brothers, Mitchell Manzanares, Anthony Manzanares, Gene Manzanares, and Jason Manzanares; extended sisters, Mary Ann Mora, Juliana Holton, and Tina Thyfault, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that loved him so very much. It goes without saying that he also loved and had a special bond with the Bernal and Pacheco families.

My deepest sympathy to all of Chris´s family. Chris and I went to school together in Fruita. I do not live in the area any more but my prayers are with you. God bless all of you.
