Douglas Gentry Britton June 26, 1972 - June 14, 2024 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Douglas Gentry Britton, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Seven years and 3 months ago Doug was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer; we were devastated and on an emotional roller coaster the entire time. Things changed three months ago when Doug had one medical complication after another, yet he was determined to continue the fight. We are so proud of him and his strength and determination to live. On Friday, June 14, 2024, he took his final, peaceful breath in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Doug received chemo, immunotherapy, or a clinical trial treatment every two weeks for seven years. We have so much gratitude for all the healthcare professionals who fought along with him to give him the best care available. His wife, Honey, was a fierce and tireless advocate.

Although cancer sucks, Doug had a great outlook on his situation and felt that in some ways his diagnosis was a blessing. He was able to do treatments while working full-time until Covid forced him to "retire". Although he hated leaving the job he loved, it allowed him the time to do the things he really wanted, his passion for all things military exploded. He was the proud owner of a half-track, Big Alice (a 5-ton military truck), Bossy the Jet (a T33 Korean War era jet), and so many other treasures. He loved to take them to military shows and parades. He enjoyed getting to meet veterans and other military vehicle enthusiasts. He loved to travel - it didn't matter if it was by land, sea, or air - he got to see a lot of the world. He really looked forward to his yearly "adventure camps" and "family camps" with his 3 best friends, Micah, Brent, and Mark.

Doug was born in Los Angeles to William and Linda Britton. Doug grew up in Grand Junction and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1990. He attended the University of New Mexico and Mesa State College, graduating with a degree in Radiologic Technology. After graduating, he worked in Montrose, Denver and at several hospitals in the Phoenix area.

Doug is survived by his wife, Honey, his daughter, Madeline, both of Fountain Hills, Arizona, his stepsons Jay Millay, of Washington, and Austin Millay, of Texas. His mom, Linda Britton, and sister, Susan Britton, of Grand Junction, also survive. He is preceded in death by his father, William Britton.

All of the love and support from our family, friends, co-workers and medical professionals is deeply appreciated. We are grateful to God for the extra time and special memories we had the opportunity to create together. Doug had people praying for him all over the world. God answered many prayers, and we are so thankful for that.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1 at Clifton Christian Church 3241 F 1/4 Road. There will be a luncheon afterwards.
