Edward Praete Obituary

Edward "Bud" Praete August 11, 1918 – April 2, 2010 Edward "Bud" Praete passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends on April 2, 2010. "Bud" was born in New Rochelle, NY to Frank C. Praete and Helen (Jordan) Praete on August 11th 1918. "Bud" joined the Navy in 1940 and became a fighter pilot during the war. During his distinguished service career, he flew Corsair's from carriers and later became an instructor for the Navy on a variety of aircraft, including jets. He retired from the Navy a Commander after 22 years of service. On August 3rd, 1946 Bud married Bonnie Jean Scates and was married for 47 joyful years! They were married while Bud was still in the Navy and living in New York. They moved to Connecticut where they had their first daughter Pamallee. The next journey placed them in Pennsicola, FL where they had their second daughter Candy (deceased 2002) and then onto Pennsylvania where they had their third and final daughter Patty. By 1963, the family was looking for some "fun in the sun" and moved to San Diego, CA. This wasn't a move, but a journey, as the family spent 30 days camping and fishing before settling in, which Patty explained "was absolutely wonderful and a trip I will never forget". After two years in San Diego they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where Bud became a successful Realtor and avid golfer. Bud became a member of the Bookcliff Country club almost at its conception (1965) in order to pursue his deep passion for golf and to enjoy the company of his many, many friends. Bonnie, his wife of 47 years, passed away in Grand Junction October 1992. In 1995, Bud married Mary Sherman. They spent 15 fantastic years together traveling the country, playing golf, enjoying grandchildren and telling great stories together. Bud had two brothers (Frank and Artie) two sisters (Lon and Muri) three grandchildren (Jeremy Sours, Carrie Oliver Erika Kiesling) and one great grandson (Jordan Kiesling). ....... "hey, when's our tee time!?" - Bud The funeral is scheduled for Friday April 9th 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary located at 2515 Patterson Rd. Grand Junction, Colorado 81505.
