John Crosby Obituary

John Arthur Crosby November 29, 1924 - April 3, 2007 Our beloved father, John Crosby, passed peacefully in the early hours of April 3, 2007. John was born in Paonia, Colorado to Arthur James Crosby and Bessie Otis (Bridenbaugh) Crosby on November 29, 1924. A graduate of the University of Colorado, John was an elementary school principal for 35 years at Lincoln Orchard Mesa and Columbus schools in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he touched thousands of young lives. His love of God led him to a position as Elder in the Orchard Mesa Orthodox Presbyterian Church, where he served and worshipped for many years. In 1989 he retired and moved to Salem, Oregon. He served as a medical corpsman in the United States Navy during World War II as well as the Korean War. John held an Amateur Extra Class license and enjoyed talking to people all around the world on his ham radio. He leaves behind sons Tim Crosby (Cindy Crosby) of Salem, David Crosby of Colorado Springs, daughters; Judy House (Tim House) of Starke, Florida, and Anne Pagett (Lanny Pagett) of Salem; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Until her death in 2003, he shared 57 years with his wife, Carlyn June Crosby. His parents, an infant sister and four other children also preceded him in death. For all who knew him, he will be remembered with admiration and love. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Capital Park Wesleyan Church, 410 19th St SE in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Vineyard building fund.

Dear Tim and your brother and sisters,
Your dad was the nicest and best principal I had during the 40 years I taught. He was always caring and considerate. I know he will be missed by many people for he was appreciated and loved by everyone. I was your teacher, Tim, and I still have a Christmas Mystery you and a couple of your classmates wrote. Over my 40 years of teaching, I had 17 principles and your dad was the best!
