Ralph Morgan Obituary
Ralph U. Morgan
June 20, 1938 - September 29, 2015
Ralph U. Morgan, 77, of Canon City, Colorado passed away peacefully on September 29, 2015, with his family by his side.
He is survived by his two great kids, Troy Hall (Christina) Morgan of Stafford, VA, and Tammy Louise (Duayne) Tomlinson of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his older brother, Willis Morgan of Searchlight, NV, and several nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Sharie G. (Truax) Morgan in 2009.
Ralph was born June 20, 1938, to the late Joseph and Ethel (James) Morgan in Leadville, CO. He attended a one room schoolhouse near Climax until he and his family moved to Grand Junction, CO. He attended the old Pride School in Kannah Creek for a short time, then attended Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary, Grand Junction Jr High, and Grand Junction High School. He and his family moved to Moab, Utah in 1954, where his father worked for Atlas Minerals, and Ralph graduated from Grand County High School in 1956. During this time he worked for various farmers and ranchers in Mesa and Delta Counties, and also worked for Atlas Minerals. In 1958, Ralph moved to Denver, CO to attend Barnes Business College where he was the Student Body President and was in charge of running the bookstore. It was also during this time where he met the love of his life and the woman he would marry.
Ralph and Sharie were married in Lakewood, CO on June 11, 1961, and began raising their family. Ralph was a credit manager and worked in the Oil Industry. They lived in several areas during their marriage including Colorado Springs, CO, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, El Paso, TX, and Canon City, CO where they retired in 2001. He was an avid outdoorsman, and his passions were backpacking, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved to tell stories of all his adventures in life, and although some of his stories were repeated several times, it was always a joy to hear them. He never met a stranger and could easily carry on a conversation with anyone. He had a tough exterior, but inside he had a heart of gold and he loved his family very deeply. He touched the lives of many people and will be forever missed.
Ralph requested no funeral services, and asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the pet rescue of your choice, or to New Century Hospice, 1524 N Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
His family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Winslow Court Retirement Community for the exceptional care he was given, and especially to the staff at New Century Hospice for the loving care, compassion, and support that was given to both him and his family.
Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
