Richard Ray Montgomery

July 4, 1942 - April 25, 2021

Richard Ray Montgomery went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25, 2021, surrounded by his family at the HopeWest Care Center after a battle with cancer.

Born July 4, 1942, to Ray Norman and Audrey Faye (Walls) Montgomery in Landville, WV, he lived in WV before moving to Leadville, CO. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an ASA Specialist during the Vietnam Era and was stationed at U.S. Army Headquarters, Frankfurt, Germany. After serving his country he returned to Leadville and continued his mining career up until retirement in 2001.

He loved the mountains of Colorado enjoying skiing, and many hunting, fishing and camping trips with his family and friends. His faith was very important to him. He proudly served as a Deacon, Gideon, Jail Minister for many years and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife, Donna, of Clifton, CO; daughters, Renee (Ian) Griggs, of Spring Creek, NV, and Robin (Matthew) Rose, of Grand Junction, CO; step-daughter, Shalee Siebbert of ID; step-sons, Matthew and Michael Bashara of Grand Junction, CO; 11 grandchildren, and brother, Randy (Sue) Montgomery, of Littleton, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Audrey Montgomery, and first wife, Marilynn Montgomery.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 1, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be at Palisade Cemetery following. Military Honors will be held May 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Palisade Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideons International, Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund and HopeWest.
