Rodney England Obituary

Rodney E. England January 14, 1953 - February 18, 2010 Rodney Eugene England made his final journey in this life to complete healing and eternal life on February 18, 2010. Rod was born in Lubbock, Texas on January 14, 1953. His family moved to Anaheim, California when he was a year old. He attended public schools and graduated from Ambassador College. As a tour guide in his summer vacations he discovered his love of the Colorado mountains. After graduation he came to live in Vail, Colorado where he lived his dream of being the "ultimate ski bum". He worked as a marketing and sales manager of Weather Shield, Pella Window & Door Companies. He moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he met and married his beloved heart, Debbie. Rod and Debbie cofounded Wounded Warriors - Sons and Daughters of America. Rod worked tirelessly raising money to assist our returning wounded from Iraq and Afghanistan. He appreciates the selfless sacrifice our men and women in the military make everyday on our behalf. Rod never met a stranger and everyone was family. Rod was passionate about living and sharing with others the truth of the Torah, God's living word in Yeshua, Jesus Christ. To that end he founded Seventh Day Ministries to further share this message. Rod's parents, Kenneth and Artie preceded him in passing. He is blessed with brothers and sisters, Gary England, Robert, Lenna, Paul, and Nancy; his many children, Heather, Tiffany, Robert, Joseph, Sherronna, Wes and Tawnie; his delightful grandchildren, Austin, Braden, Madison, Addianna, Brooklyn, Edak and Cadien; Rod's nieces and nephews, Lizzie, Blake, Abby and Joshua; his in-laws, Pat, Ed, Bob and Ruth. Rod is blessed with a large body of extended family not only in Grand Junction, but Crawford, Montrose, Delta and Cedaredge. Rod asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Wounded Warriors - Sons and Daughters of America, P.O. Box 23003, Glade Park, CO 81523, or visit the website, americaswounded.org. Rod's celebration of life and loves will be Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Fellowship Church, 62701 East Jig Road, Montrose, CO 81404. 1 Peter 2:4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

Renee and I lost track of Rod many years ago. We were all friends before the Ambassador days. We knew Rod in his "ultimate Beach Bum" phase. He used to take Renee to the beach daily in the summer months. We are sure he will be missed, but have comfort knowing his physical fight is over.

Debbie,
When there is love, any life is too short. Rod had a way of making the joys of life contagious. I have countless fond memories of times spent and miles traveled with him. I know you are grateful for your life with Rod, and I feel fortunate to have known him.

Debbie,
I also spent some time in Vail with Rod in the early ski-bum years but lost contact with him soon after. I have often thought of him as those times were very memorable. I always considered Rod to be a true friend and am sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Rod and I were buddies at AC, Pasadena. I am sorry to hear of his passing and yet it sounds like he is one of the sheep that God will separate from the goats on judgement day bringing him to eternal life within his kingdom. I pray that you will get comfort in the faith of his calling and mission. My prayers are with you and your family at this time and the months to come.

While I haven't seen Rod for many years, I have many fond memories of him and his family...If my memory serves me well, the family attended the Long Beach (CA) church, where I also attended. I of course knew Rod at AC where I was Dean of Students. I always respected him and enjoyed his personality and outgoing qualities which made him one of the very popular students on campus. He is missed but his memory will endure...

Debbie, you and I never met, but I was one of three roommates that travelled from CA to Vail, CO. in the fall of 1979 to begin our "ski-bum" adventure together. Rod had already reserved a condo @ the East Vail Raquet Club! For a bunch of ski-bums, we lived pretty well.

I have wondered for years whatever became of Rod. I'm so sorry to learn of him this way.... I always wished we could have reunited and shared laughs and memories.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

To the family and friends,

The Bible writer Paul described the Creator as “the God who supplies endurance and comfort.” (Romans 15:5) Since the Bible assures us that God does not change with time, we can have confidence that he still gives comfort to those who serve him and those who turn to him in prayer. (James 1:17) Please seek his help in helping you to endure this pain.
