Westa Lewis Obituary
At 99 years old, she told her daughters "I'm ready to see Jesus." Westa and Dale Lewis were married in 1941 and had three children, Dale Edean (Dolly) in 1943, Leonard Chad in 1947, and Safronia Mary in 1948.
Dale served with the Army Field Artillery, during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. While Dale was serving three consecutive years in the US Army, Westa lived in Mesa Creek in 1941, where she spent three years ranching and raising a newborn baby girl (Dolly). When Dale returned from the Army, he met Dolly for the first time and moved to Gateway where they purchased the Gateway Service Station in 1948.
Dale and Westa sold their Gateway Service Station in 1967 and began traveling between California and Colorado, numerous times working with Mary, Leonard and other family members. Westa was in administration and maintenance for many years until she and Dale retired in 1987 where they moved to Grand Junction. In retirement, they enjoyed visiting family, fishing, camping, boating and hunting. She enjoyed her Ladies Luncheons, quilting, and was a collector of gems and stones which she loved to share with her grandchildren.
Westa leaves a legacy of three children, 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-grandchildren. She joined her husband, one son, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren in heaven.
The heritage of ranching, construction and family traditions including reunions at Lake Powell still lives on throughout the generations.
Westa always reminded us to: "WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD."

I lived a few houses away from Westa in Grand Junction, Colorado. We would have short but very meaningful conversations at our mail box area. She always gave me inspiration with her Godly words. She was a beautiful child of our dear Lord. I've missed you since we both moved from our old neighborhood, Westa. My thoughts and healing prayers for Westa's family. Westa was a beautiful person inside and out.
