Windfred Headdy Obituary

Windfred Lee "Windy" Headdy June 12, 1932 - December 4, 2023 Winfred Lee "Windy" Headdy, age 91 of Grand Junction, CO, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Windy was born on June 12, 1932 in Spencer, IN to Winfred R. Headdy and Daphene Hedrick Headdy. In 1947, he moved to Los Alamos, NM where he lived for 50 years and worked as an Industrial Photographer at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and ran a Wedding Photography business from 1950- 1987. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1997 where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball, camping, and restoring old cars. Windy was a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and a Past President of the Industrial Photographers of the Southwest. He loved the beauty of the great outdoors and having the ability to capture it in both his professional and private life.

Windy was preceded in by his parents, Winfred and Daphene; his brothers, Billy Headdy and Jerry Headdy; and his sister Doris Anderson.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathy Saunders Headdy; his children, Sharon Mills and husband Bill of Los Alamos, NM and Holly Laing and husband Aaron of Grand Junction, CO; his grandchildren, Paige Early and husband Bob of Alaska, Nathan Anderson of Texas, Taylor Laing of Nebraska, and Morgan Laing of Grand Junction, CO. Also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
