Letha Hagenbaugh Obituary

Letha (Lord) Hagenbaugh spent her whole life working tirelessly to provide a good home for her family, compassion for those who needed it most and kindness to all who crossed her path. On Sunday, March 20, 2016, after 101 years of caring for others and giving far more than she ever received, she finally took a rest.
Born July 28, 1914 to Floyd and Jeanette Lord, Mrs. Hagenbaugh spent her entire life in the area. She married Lloyd Hagenbaugh, and they worked, lived and raised three children in Beaverton. Mrs. Hagenbaugh worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1976 after 24 years of service. But she never retired from her hardworking ways, whether it involved grandkids, homemaking, church or volunteerism.
Even after her career was over, Mrs. Hagenbaugh rarely sat down longer than was absolutely necessary, enjoying crafts, gardening, reading, cooking and bingo, and most of all, time with her family. Her greatest joy came during the holidays, when her entire extended family gathered in her home. She baked, cleaned and decorated exhaustively for days in advance of Christmas. Annual New Year's Eve parties with her grandkids were chock full of games, food and staying up way too late. She never missed a chance to dress up for Halloween, more than holding up her end of an unspoken neighborhood understanding that hers was the place to go for the best candy. And her yard was full of family and strangers alike to watch the fireworks every Fourth of July.
When you live more than a century, you're bound to lose many loved ones along the way, and Mrs. Hagenbaugh couldn't escape that reality, having been preceded by her beloved husband, Lloyd, in 1983; her parents; and her sister, Dorothy Rowley, to whom she was particularly close in their golden years.
Heartsick at the loss but far better for having known her are her children, Donald (Barbara) Hagenbaugh, Patricia (Ken) Govitz, and Terinda (Dean) Dowling, all of Beaverton; grandchildren Lori (Mark) Robb, Jeff (Tammy) Hagenbaugh, Bridgette (Keith) Gransden, Stephanie (Todd Olson) Hagenbaugh, Rusty (Leanne) Govitz, Tony Dowling and Joe Dowling; and 20 great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hagenbaugh's family is requesting donations in her name to the Helping Hands Mission in Beaverton where she spent many years volunteering.

I always considered Letha a "special" person. The last six years I saw her most every day when I visited my husband, she expressed her values many times. She was a strong, very good person and I will miss her, but I am happy for her that she is finally in the arms of the Lord.
