Mabel Stoike

Mabel Stoike, 89, of Big Rapids, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She was born on February 25, 1933, in Gladwin, the daughter of Frank and Amanda (Stearla) Burmeister. She was also raised by her grandparents, John and Augusta Burmeister.

Mabel married Walter Stoike on October 20, 1951. They were married for 63 years until Walter's death on February 6, 2015. Mabel moved to Big Rapids, MI to live at her son's residence for the last 17 months.

Mabel worked at the Gladwin Hospital as a cook while raising their two children, Linda (Daniel) Bergman of Beaverton and Michael (Leslie) Stoike of Big Rapids. She has four grandchildren, Lori Bergman of Beaverton, Christopher Stoike of Big Rapids, Elizabeth (Jim) Trost of Big Rapids, and Gregory Stoike of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mabel has one great-grandchild, Corey Trost of Big Rapids. Mabel also enjoyed volunteering at the Gladwin Hospice.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Walter.

Mabel was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor James Krach on Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin, MI. The address is 331 Clendening Road. The family will have visitation on Thursday, April 21 from 4-8 p.m. at the Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin, MI and on Friday, April 22, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at the Highland Cemetery next to her husband.
