Charles Ogden Obituary

Glen Lake – Charles L. Ogden, 81, of Glen Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, with his family at his side.
Born on May 26, 1942 in Glens Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Lewis and Virginia Ogden.
Chuck was a 1960 graduate of Lake George High School. After graduation, he went to work at Sandy Hill Corp., where he continued to work for 36 years, and retiring as Supervisor of Material Control. While working at Sandy Hill, he was also the President of the Credit Union, a member of the Sandy Hill Club, and stayed active with the other retirees by cooking and helping at the annual picnic.
Chuck joined the Bay Ridge Fire Company and Rescue Squad in 1961. He started his volunteer fire career as a Line Officer, and then held the positions of Chief, President and Director for many years. He was also a past Deputy Fire Coordinator for Warren County, President of the Warren County Chiefs and Officers and was treasurer at the time of his death for the Warren County Past Chiefs. In 2022, Chuck was honored for his 60 years of volunteer fire service.
He was a very active member of the Harrisena Community Church. He was a member of the Fellowship Committee, a member of the Church Council and a church trustee for many years. He enjoyed his time in the church kitchen cooking for the Men's Club Breakfasts and the yearly chicken barbeque.
One of his greatest enjoyments was living on Glen Lake. He and his family moved to the lake in 1952 and Chuck remained a lifelong resident until his passing. He was a past President of the Glen Lake Association, and could often be seen on his weekly boat rides. He enjoyed spending time on the lake and took great pride in passing that enjoyment on to his daughter and grandchildren.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and taking trips with friends. He was especially active with his grandchildren and enjoyed going on vacations with them and being involved in their interests and activities.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Ogden, his father-in-law, Benjamin Bardin, and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Bardin.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan Ogden; his daughter, Lynn Ogden, and his grandchildren, Lara Elizabeth Ogden McComsey and Blake Charles Ogden McComsey.
A memorial service for Chuck will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Road, Queensbury, NY 12804. There will be a reception immediately following.
Donations in Chuck's memory can be made to the Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Rd, Queensbury or to the Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Co., 1080 Bay Road, Lake George, NY 12845.
