Lake George, New York - Kuen James McGlauflin, 21, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2025.
Born Keun Shik Yoon, in Seoul South Korea, he made the journey to the United States where he was greeted by his parents Dianne and Jim, his sisters Isla and Hayden, his Aunt Donna, and Grandmother Metivier, on March 12, 2004, which would be celebrated every year as his Gotcha Day. Kuen was officially adopted on January 20, 2005.
Kuen grew up in Lake George where he was an athlete who played baseball, showing both teamwork and dedication on the field. He self taught himself to ski showing his fearless spirit and determination. Music was another passion - he created beats and expressed himself through sound, sharing his creativity with those around him. He also played video games, where he found fun and connection.
Kuen appreciated the beauty of the outdoors and always felt at peace in nature. He had a special love for animals, especially his parakeets, who were often perched on his shoulder on Top of the World, or swinging happily in the car with his mom. The bond showed his gentle heart and the way he cherished life's little companions.
Kuen attended Mountain Lake Academy in Lake Placid NY and is officially a 2021 Graduate of Lake George High School.
Kuen lived a life full of questions, faith, and love. He had a heart that embraced others completely, offering compassion and kindness without hesitation. Though life's struggles were many, Kuen faced them with resilience, always searching for truth and meaning.
Kuen longed to be seen and loved for exactly who he was. In his presence, you knew sincerity-whether in the way he laughed, listened, or asked the question no one else thought to ask. His belief in God remained a guiding light through every season of his journey. Those who knew Kuen will remember not just the challenges he endured, but the love he gave, the warmth he carried, and the way he never stopped reaching for understanding.
Kuen is preceded by his Maternal grandfather, Donald Metivier, his Paternal Grand Parents Alfred and Eileen McGlauflin, his Uncle Clark Perkett, and his Aunt Laurie Metivier(Mark)-Woodcock.
