Adeline Jurgens Obituary
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton with the Rev. Arthur J. Zewert officiating.
Adeline A. Jurgens, 86, of Hampton passed away Wednesday (April 12, 2006) at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born Nov. 7, 1919, in rural Dell Rapids, S.D., to John and Mattie (Leuning) Rave. She attended Heart School in Dell Rapids, S.D.
Adeline married Jerry Toby Jurgens on Feb. 1, 1940, in Ellsworth, Minn. She was a homemaker. Adeline was a member of Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. She was a member of "Women of Zion." She taught Sunday school for several years.
Adeline enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, especially when she could share it with others. She enjoyed having family and friends over for a meal. She also enjoyed making many beautiful quilts.
She loved her family and was happiest when she could have a child on her lap. Adeline was a very caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Adeline and Jerry moved to Hampton on Aug. 19, 1997, where they enjoyed their retirement.
She is survived by her son, Ronald and wife, Marjorie, Jurgens of Belmond; daughter, Mariann and husband, Doug, Munk, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son, Harlin and wife, Mardie, Jurgens of Latimer; brother Art and wife, Ordia, Rave of Dell Rapids, S.D.; sister, Louise Sorenson of Dell Rapids, S.D.; sister Dorothy Jurgens of Thornton; brother-in-law, Paul and wife, Marie, Jurgens of Latimer; brother-in-law, David and wife, Dixie, Jurgens of Marion; sister-in-law, Freida Jurgens of Belmond; brother-in-law, Otto Dannen of Latimer; grandchildren: Jeff and wife, Jeanie, Jurgens of Clear Lake, Darrin and wife, Kim, Johnson of Polk City, Jeff and wife, Michelle, Gilbert of Urbandale, Steve and wife, Dawn, Jurgens of Des Moines, Robert and wife, Diana, Harkin of Bloomington, Minn.; and great-grandchildren Taylor and Justin Jurgens, Natasha and Jake Johnson, Nick and Sam Jurgens.
Adeline was preceded by her parents; husband; one brother, Alfred; and one sister, Esther Haak.
