Denise Renee Henely, age 57 of Herington, Kan., passed away on Saturday May 24, 2025.

She was born September 22, 1967 in Mason City, Iowa to Archie and Ruth Rasmussen. Denise attended Capri College for Cosmetology. Denise was a cosmetologist and shop manager before becoming a para professional. She worked fifteen years for the Salina USD 305 in special needs working within the White City, Abilene, and Chapman school districts. She loved spoiling her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening her many houseplants and especially her pets. She volunteered as a religious education teacher at St. Andrews and loved helping and being with the students. Denise never knew a stranger. Simply saying hello turned you into an instant, lifelong friend.

Denise married Ron Henely at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, IA on July 16, 1988. They shared 37 years of marriage and were blessed with seven children. Anthony Henely of Salado, Texas, Andrew Henely of Fairmont, Neb., Alexander Henely of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ashley Henely of Junction City, Kan., Adam Henely of Salina, Kan., Aidan Henely and Archer Henely both in Herington, Kan.

She was proceeded in death by her father Archie Rasmussen; In-laws Elizabeth Hoeft and Kirkley Henely; and, son Aaron Gabriel.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ron; son Anthony and wife Emily, son Andrew and wife Alyse, son Alexander and wife Kerrigan, daughter Ashley, son Adam, son Aidan, son Archer; grandchildren Taylor, Tate, Auna, Eleanor, David, and Levi; mother Ruth Rasmussen; brothers Mark, Robin, and Rodney Rasmussen; sister Dawn Rasmussen; along with other nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Visitation for Denise will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday June 6th, 2025 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 7th, 2025 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 311 S. Buckeye, Abilene, Kan., with a luncheon at the Parish Hall proceeding the service. The Burial Service will be at St. John's Cemetery at 304 Wind Road, Herington, Kan., following the luncheon. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Abilene or St. John's Catholic Church of Herington.
