MASON CITY-Dennis "Butch" Duane Bramsen, 66, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, December 11, 2023.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2023, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Butch was born December 18, 1956, in Mason City, son of Duane Arthur and Geraldine Carrie (Hohenfield) Bramsen. He met the love of his life, Vicki Funk while they were both still in high school. Shortly after Vicki graduated, Butch enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his return, they were united in marriage April 2, 1976. Following their marriage, Butch was stationed down in Fort Hood Texas. Following his military career, the family moved back to Mason City where he worked with AMPI as a supervisor for many years until they closed. He had just officially retired this year.
Butch enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife, family and friends. They traveled all over, but his favorite spot was always the trout streams in Decorah, Iowa. He also enjoyed kayaking and spending time with his grandchildren. Some of his best times were gathered around camp with his friends. Over time, he came to begrudgingly love his dog, River. He'd never admit to it though.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki; daughter, Mandy (Travis) Adams; grandchildren, Sierra (Dylan) Usher, McKenzie Herzberg, Logan (Seirra) Adams Ethan (Cass) Adams, and Christopher Adams; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Bryson, and Zavier; sister, Linda (Mike) Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Duane and Gerrie; son, Christopher Bramsen; brother, Bill Bramsen; and parents-in-law, Fred and Marion Funk.
