MASON CITY-Frances N. Randall, 93, of Mason City, died Monday, January 22, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center – North Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11 a.m., at First Covenant Church, 411 S. Ohio Ave., with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave., from 4:00-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Covenant Church, Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Frances Nadine Emerson was born on July 24, 1930, in Elmore, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Millicent (Ward) Emerson. She married Ray L. Randall on July 10, 1949, in Elmore, Minnesota. To this union, four sons were born: Scott Edward, Marc Allan, Thomas Gene, and Brian Ray.
Frances graduated from Minnesota School of Business- Minneapolis. She was active as a den mother in Cub Scouting, and PTA President of Harding Grade School. She volunteered at nursing homes, schools, and Mercy Hospital, at the emergency surgery waiting room, and around Christmas time, Ray and Fran volunteered at schools and hospitals as Santa and Mrs. Claus. She also volunteered her time at the Stockman House, Hospice, Meredith Willson Boyhood Home, and the MacNider Art Museum.
She very much enjoyed being a mother and wife, needlepoint, and making beautiful stuffed bears.
Frances is survived by her four sons, Scott (Jane) of Ames, Marc (Laurie) of Lakeville, Minnesota, Tom (Michelle) of Ames, and Brian (Tami) of Mason City; she is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
