Gary Jack Morris

Gary Jack Morris, age 77, of Decorah, IA, passed away on January 25, 2023 at West View Care Center under Hospice Care in Britt, Iowa.
He fought and lost a second battle with cancer, after 42 years free the first time with cancer.
He was born July 31, 1945 in Cerro Gordo County to Jack and Opal Morris of Mason City. Gary grew up and graduated from Mason City High School. After graduation he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the ship Salsbury Sound, a seaplane tender, stationed in the Philippines and Japan.
After his service, Gary married Marji (Langreck) Morris in Mason City. They had three children, Briggette, Kimberly and Gary Lee.
Gary attended North Iowa Area Community College at Calmar and received his degree in cosmetology. He owned and operated with this wife the Beauty Spot Salon in Cresco for several years. Later he moved to Forest City and began work at Winnebago Industries. Here worked there for 19 years in many areas, last years as a Bill of Material Coordinator. Then he went to NIACC and received his degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City.
Gary enjoyed camping, rendezvous, snowmobiling, cycling and participated on 4 RAGBRAIs and many more hobbies. He also enjoyed his time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his former wife, Marji Morris, two daughters and 1 son, Briggette (Jenn) Morris-Kidd of Rochester, MN, Kimberly (Mark) Cram of Corwith, IA, Gary (Tina Weiand) Morris of Ossian, IA. Eight grandchildren, Benjarmin (Samantha) Morris, Bradley (Jessica) Morris, Alixandra (Steven) Cram, Dakota (Megan) Morris, Nikki (Chris) Krambeer, Kevin (Lara) Cram, and Randy Cram. Eighteen great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jasper, Oliver, Connor, Baylee, Angelina, Delila, Gilbert, Lilianna, Rosalie, Rafe, Khaleesi, Archer, Weston, Ira, Shaylee, Tia, Nevaeh, 3 nephews, 1 niece, and numerous cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Opal Morris, sister Glenice Schinnow, grandson Sean Rojohn, 4 great-grandchildren, former in-laws Leo and Adella Langreck, grandparents Estol and Alice Smith, Moses and Lulu Morris, also many aunts, uncles, and friends.
He will be dearly missed. He was cremated with military rites. A private family service will be held at a later date.
