George Boehm Obituary

BUFFALO CENTER - George G. Boehm, 83, of Buffalo Center died Friday, July 8, 2011, at his home after his battle with liver cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at First Reformed Church Buffalo Center, with Pastor Bill Peake officiating.
Military Rites will be by the Buffalo Center American Legion Honor Guard.
A private family burial of ashes will follow the service.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center.
Memorial contributions may be directed to United Hands Hospice, Blue Earth, Minn., or to the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center.
George was born Aug. 19, 1927, to William and Gertie (Janssen) Boehm. He grew up around the Lakota and Buffalo Center area. At a young age he joined the U.S. Army and served his country.
George married Elaine (VanGerpen) Aug. 17, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He attended the Reisch America School of Auctioneering in Mason City. He worked as a milk hauler and then went into farming in the Buffalo Center area. They retired from farming in 1980 and moved to their present home in Buffalo Center.
George enjoyed going for his coffee shop visits, tinkering in his shed and loved giving rides on his golf cart and later on his Cub Cadet.
George is survived by his wife, Elaine, of 61 years; six children, Harley (Kathie) of Black River Falls, Wis., Verlaine Faber (Rich) of Ogden, James (Marilyn) of Gallatin, Mo., Karen Kiewiet (Les) of Buffalo Center, LaRoy of Granby, Colo., and Jerry (Kendi) of Buffalo Center; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pauline Eisenhauer, Rosie (Harvey) Nerdig, Otto (Dorothy) Boehm, John Boehm, Fred Boehm, Robert (Gracille) Boehm and Dennis (JoAnn) Boehm; brothers-in-law, Peter (LouAnn) VanGerpen and Arnold (Janie) VanGerpen; sister-in-law, Lila Hassebrock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertie Boehm; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Alice VanGerpen; his brother, Carl Boehm; sister, Irene Winter; and a grandson, Allen Boehm.
