I am so saddened to hear of your loss. My name is Chuck Grove from Clear Lake,Iowa. I am a 1974 graduate of Rockwell-Swaledale high school. I feel so blessed to have had Gloria for all 4 years of my high school experience. She touched my life with singing. She instructed me for 4 years of private voice lessons, concert choir and swing choir. I went on to NIACC for 2 more years of heavy music involvement. Since then I have been involved in the North Iowa Choral Society for roughly 40+ years. Her instruction prepared me for a lifetime of Musical enjoyment. She was a great mentor and teacher. I will cherish those memories of everything she taught me. I remember during one voice lesson, we were discussing my future plans where I told her that I wanted to be a farmer. She scolded me for that choice but did not dissuade me. I have been able to blend my 2 loves in life of farming and singing very nicely. I think I made us both happy. She had me sing my first solo at a winter concert when I was a freshman in high school and I was scared to death. She had great confidence in her students. I regret due to today´s weather that I am not able to join you. I remember the 3 musicals that we performed, the many concerts and even cast parties she put on at her house when Heather and Heath were just youngsters. In conclusion, I will remember all those special times she created for us.Yes, she was demanding but it made us all better performers and people.
